Bihar Attendance App for Teacher and Students
The Bihar Attendance App is a new Bihar biometric attendance system being introduced in Bihar for taking attendance of teachers and students. Earlier, attendance was taken through the Shiksha Portal, but now a new system has been launched, and a new app called Bihar Attendance has been introduced.
In this post, we explained how schools can log in and register their teachers. Also, we will learn how to register students and how their attendance will be recorded.
Earlier, it was said that attendance for children would be taken through the Shiksha Portal. Now, through this post, we will explain how the attendance of children will be taken. Will it work like this — entering the classroom, opening the app, taking photos of students, and uploading them? Or has a new improved method been developed?

Who Can Login Bihar Attendance App
When you open the app on your tablet or phone, you will see the login interface.
This login page asks for your User ID and Password.
Two types of users can log in:
- Nodal Officer Login
- The Head of Institution (HM/HT) can log in.
- They can register staff (teachers), view complaints, and see reports.
- Teacher/Staff Login
- Teachers can log in to mark their own attendance.
- They can also register students.
- Student attendance is taken through the teacher login.
So, only two types of people can log in:
Nodal Officers and Teachers/Staff.
Teacher Login Interface
When teachers log in, the dashboard shows:
- Mark Attendance (for teacher’s own attendance)
- FRS Registration (Face Recognition System registration for students)
- Grievances and Reports
FRS Registration means the system needs the biometric (face) data of students for future attendance.
Why is student registration necessary?
Because the system needs to identify each student by face.
Once a student is registered, they do not need to be registered again in the future. Their attendance will be taken automatically from then on.
How to Register Students in Bihar Attendance App
- Select the class.
- Select the section.
- Click on Face Data.
A list of students will appear.
- Names with a green tick indicate the student is already registered.
- Names with a red mark indicate registration is not yet done.
Click on the red mark to register.
When you click, the camera will open. The student will stand in front of the camera.
Important guidelines for student face registration:
- Ensure proper lighting.
- The face must be inside the circle shown on screen.
- The student must smile and blink.
- Only then the registration will be accepted.
After capturing, click Confirm Registration.
A success message will appear, and the student will get a unique ID.
How to Take Student Attendance
After registering all students:
- Log in again as staff.
- Go to the dashboard and select Mark Attendance.
- Choose Student Attendance.
Select:
- Class
- Section
You will see two attendance modes:
Attendance Modes
1. Check-in Mode (Individual Mode)
- Capture each student’s face one by one.
- When the system recognizes the face, a green square appears.
- If recognized, attendance is marked.
2. Check-in N Mode (Group Mode)
- Capture 3–5 students at once.
- Green square = face recognized.
- Red square = face not detected properly.
This mode is faster for large classes.
Important Instructions While Taking Attendance
- The face must be straight and visible.
- Look directly at the camera.
- Blink slowly.
- Smile.
- No mask allowed.
- No glasses or cap.
- Do not tilt the head.
- Proper lighting is required.
- Only one face should appear clearly for individual mode.

Using this new Bihar Attendance application, teachers can register students through the Face Recognition System and then take their attendance either individually or in groups. Registration is mandatory only once, after which daily attendance becomes easy and automatic.
