In today’s post, within a 10-minute process, I will explain you the complete detailed procedure on how you can link your Aadhaar card with NPCI and how you can enable DBT status in your bank account. You can do all this from home using a completely online method through Aadhaar OTP verification.
What is Aadhaar DBT?
Aadhaar DBT simply means linking India’s Aadhaar biometric ID system with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). DBT is a government system through which subsidies and welfare scheme money is sent directly into the beneficiary’s bank account.
This system was launched in 2013 to make government payments more transparent and secure. By using Aadhaar-based authentication, it helps reduce fraud, leakage, and the role of middlemen. Because of Aadhaar DBT, benefits like scholarships, pensions, and MGNREGA wages are credited straight to the bank account of the eligible person without any delay or interference.
So, if you want to enable Aadhaar DBT in your bank account or link your Aadhaar card with NPCI, read this post carefully till the end.
Process to link Aadhaar DBT with NPCI
first of all, you need to search for NPCI in any browser on your mobile or laptop. As soon as you search for NPCI, you will see the official website of the National Payments Corporation of India as the first result. The website is npci.org.in. You need to open this website.
Once you open the website, you will see the new interface of the NPCI website. Here, you will find many options. The second option is “Customer.” When you click on or hover over the Customer option, several new options will appear.
Out of these options, you will find “Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE).” You need to click on this option. As soon as you click on it, you will be redirected to the new BASE portal of NPCI.

On this portal, you will see several options under NPCI. If you want to seed Aadhaar with your bank account, de-seed Aadhaar, check account details, check Aadhaar-mapped status, or check your request status, you can do all of that from here.
First of all, before linking Aadhaar with NPCI, you should check whether your Aadhaar card is already linked with any bank account and whether DBT is already enabled. For this, click on the “Aadhaar Mapped Status” option.

A new interface page will open. Here, enter your Aadhaar number, fill in the captcha, and click on the “Check Status” button. After clicking the button, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar card. Enter the OTP and click on confirm.

If your Aadhaar card is already linked with a bank account and DBT is enabled, you will see complete details on the screen. But if your Aadhaar is not linked with any bank account and DBT is not enabled, you will see the mapping status as Disabled or NULL. This means your Aadhaar is not linked with NPCI and you need to enable DBT.
If the mapping status is shown as enabled, it means DBT is already active. You will also be able to see the name of the bank account in which DBT is enabled.
Now, if your Aadhaar DBT is not enabled or if you want to change the bank account, in both cases you need to click on the first option, “Aadhaar Seeding and De-Seeding.”

After clicking this option, a confirmation alert will appear. Click on Continue. Then you will see the request form for Aadhaar seeding or de-seeding.
Here, you need to enter your Aadhaar number again. After that, you will be asked whether you want to submit a request for seeding or de-seeding. If DBT is not enabled in your bank account and you want to enable it for the first time, select the Seeding option.
Next, select the bank in which you want to enable Aadhaar DBT. Choose the bank where you have your account.
After that, you will see three options:
- Fresh Seeding
- Transfer DBT from one account to another within the same bank
- Transfer DBT from one bank to another bank
If you are enabling DBT for the first time, select the Fresh option. If you have two accounts in the same bank, you can transfer DBT from one account to another. And if you want to change your bank—for example, DBT is enabled in Bank of India but the branch is far from your home—you can transfer DBT to another bank account using the third option.
You will see a list of many banks. If you are an SBI customer, simply select State Bank of India. After selecting the bank, enter your bank account number and re-enter it to confirm.
Then accept the terms and conditions, fill in the captcha code, and click on the Submit button.
After clicking Submit, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar card or bank account. Verify the OTP and submit your final application.
Once your application is successfully submitted, you will see a congratulation message on the screen along with a reference ID.
Within 24 to 48 hours, DBT will be enabled in the bank account for which you submitted the request. After that, all government scheme payments, subsidies, scholarships, and benefits will start coming directly into that bank account.
If you want to check your request status, click on the “Request Status” option. Select whether the request was for seeding or de-seeding, choose the request date, select the seeding type (fresh, account transfer, or bank transfer), and enter the reference ID you received.
Fill in the captcha and click on Check Status. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. After verifying the OTP, you will be able to see whether your request status is pending or approved.
